2017 AGA Annual Conference in the Caribbean
The 2017 Annual Conference will be held March 25-29 at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort and Spa in tropical Puerto Rico. The conference will blend together an assortment of meetings, fun activities, learning opportunities, and a great lineup of speakers. Keynote speaker Steve Goreham, author of The Mad, Mad World of Climatism, will kick off the week with an enticing talk about producing metals with modern energy. Additional speakers include zinc thermal spray expert, Jim Weber of James K. Weber Consulting, communication expert Jan Hargrave, Dr. Andrew Green and Stephen Wilkinson from IZA, and Graham Poag from Teck Metals Ltd. As is custom, the General Membership meetings will also cover 2016 Accomplishments and 2017 Objectives, 2016 Market Performance and the 2017 Forecast. Part of Tuesday & Wednesday will include sustaining member product briefings focusing on ROI.
Aside from the meetings and sessions, there are plenty of activities to enjoy throughout the resort and beyond. Featuring two championship golf courses, the Rio Mar Resort sits just minutes from the El Yunque Rainforest, providing miles of trails to explore the jungle. If the great outdoors isn’t your style, the resort is also home to the Rio Mar Casino, the Mandara Spa, and five assorted restaurants and bars, giving guests many opportunities to unwind. Puerto Rico’s beautiful Caribbean location lends itself to many exciting excursions, including a day of sailing and snorkeling the area’s deserted islands, a tour through historic Old San Juan, guided hiking in the rainforest, and an unbelievable evening kayak tour through the bioluminescent bay.
This year’s Conference will once again feature an interactive team event to help attendees get to know each other throughout the week. The Conference wraps up on Wednesday evening with the Excellence Awards reception and semi-formal dinner to showcase the entries of AGA’s Annual Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards. After dinner, the winners of the Excellence Awards will be announced and guests are invited to celebrate in the lobby bar.
