Using Tarps to Prevent Wet Storage Stain
Tarping can be an effective form of protection against moisture, but don’t tarps trap moisture too?
Tarp usage is often debated among galvanizers. There is an inherent risk of condensation build-up underneath the tarps, which would negate their intended purpose. A general recommendation is to use tarps when anticipating direct contact with water or splashing aka sea spray or rainwater. Some galvanizers have had success using tarps to temporarily protect items from weather events such as snow, rain, or other storms. Since using tarps without caution can cause more harm than good, avoid situations where tarps trap moisture rather than shield items from it.
