Zinc Solder Rods
I want to try the new touch-up rod. Does it meet ASTM Specs with no lead?
Yes, the new rods do meet ASTM specs. ASTM A780 does not require a specific composition for the rods. Any rod that is a zinc alloy may be used. there is no requirement similar to the paint that dictates a specific minimum zinc level. The new rods contains either 39% or 49% zinc 1% copper and the remainder is all tin.
