Workplace Safety Metrics Survey 2023

Over the past few years, the AGA Technical Department has been producing technical resources at an ambitious rate. Two new White Papers successfully completed our technical review process and are now published: Kettle Failure Mitigation and Remediation and the Workplace Safety Metrics 2023 Survey. Both are now available for AGA member access.

The Health and Safety Subcommittee developed the Workplace Safety Metrics 2023 Survey from responses to last year’s member survey. This new whitepaper highlights safety trends across the U.S. hot-dip galvanizing industry and supports continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Beginning in 2025, AGA will collect and publish this data annually. Member participation in this survey is highly valued and essential to its success.

Kettle Failure Mitigation and Remediation

The Processing Subcommittee, drawing from the TechForum presentation Kettle Failures: Lessons Learned as presented by Jim Saylor of V&S Galvanizing, led to the development of the whitepaper Kettle Failure Mitigation and Remediation. This guide outlines strategies to help facilities anticipate and prevent common causes of kettle failure, as well as recommended remedial actions should a failure occur.

Thank you to our members for contributing the technical expertise and feedback necessary to develop these resources. Special thanks to Jim Saylor of V&S for gathering and advising on the majority of the content featured in Kettle Failure Mitigation and Remediation during TechForum 2023 in Toronto. AGA also appreciates the significant contributions of Jared Kaufman (CIC Pittsburgh), Ryan Monnig (Monnig Industries), Bob Messler (V&S), John Roy (RaceRock), and the Health & Safety Subcommittee members.

If you are interested in joining the TSC subcommittees or participating in guidance development such as this, see the Technical Services Committee page for more information.
