Zinc Whiskers
Zinc whiskers is a phenomenon related to the use of electroplated zinc coatings. Hot-dip galvanized coatings are not associated with zinc whiskers.
A White Paper entitled "Zinc Whisker Contamination: A Paper on the Effect and Abatement of Zinc Whiskers in Data Processing Centers" by David Loman (HP Services) provides more information on this topic and explains the issue is not associated with hot-dip galvanizing.
