The Football Stadium at Princeton University is another example of a college sports arena utilizing hot-dip galvanized steel. The field hockey stadium was galvanized over ten years ago, and the outstanding performance of the coating led to the decision to galvanize the soccer stadium.
The previous railings were severely rusted after only ten years of use, and were replaced with galvanized railings in order to ensure they will last at least seven times as long. The paint adhesion of the mesh infill panels needed to have a new car finish in appearance. Duplex coating, or paint over galvanized steel, was the perfect choice for the aesthetic look because of the clean, maintenance-free look achieved by the process. Because of the durable corrosion protection provided by hot-dip galvanized steel, this football stadium will stand as an example of the success of HDG for many years to come.
