Galvanize It! Online Seminar

Reinforcing Steel Online Seminar

The Reinforcing Steel Galvanize It! online seminar was developed by the American Galvanizers Association. The course introduces you to the basics of hot-dip galvanized reinforcing steel.  For more than 100 years, hot-dip galvanizing has been a mainstay of the North American industry.  Used in myriad applications in some of the harshest environments, hot-dip galvanizing combats corrosion throughout the world.  Though corrosion resistance is inherent any time galvanizing is used, more specifiers select hot-dip galvanizing now for other reasons including lowest initial and life-cycle cost, durability, longevity, versatility, sustainability, and aesthetics.

The American Galvanizers Association (AGA) is a non-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of after-fabrication hot-dip galvanizers, fabricators, architects, engineers, and other specifiers. The AGA provides technical support on todays innovative applications and state-of-the-art technological developments in hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion control.

Purpose of the Seminar

The purpose of this seminar is to educate architects, engineers, DOT personnel, and other specifiers about the benefits of utilizing hot-dip galvanized reinforcing steel in concrete projects throughout North America.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the hot-dip galvanizing process
  • Identify reasons specifiers choose galvanized reinforcing steel (corrosion protection, durability, longevity, availability, sustainability, and cost)
  • Understand design issues affecting hot-dip galvanized reinforcing steel performance in concrete
  • Recognize the positive environmental and economic contributions of hot-dip galvanizing to the goals of sustainable development
