This Dragon Sculpture has been on display in public parks and gardens for the past three years. The Southern Ontario elements have been constantly attacking the Dragon causing severe weathering, creating a very aged, rustic look. Not only did the rust attack the Dragon, but it would also bleed on the ground wherever the Dragon was standing. Trevor McIntyre, the owner of Imagine Metal Art, wanted a coating that would make the Dragon look brand new and be able to withstand nature's extreme elements.
The zinc application on the Dragon was more than successful at revitalizing the sculpture.
Trevor McIntyre has been a metal fabricator for the past 28 years. Imagine Metal Art, a company that specializes in metal structures, came to fruition three years ago. They specialize in anything from garden art, fire pits, to large sculptures. This Dragon sculpture was Trevor's first major art project. The vision for this Dragon was born from a pile of scrap metal in Trevor's garage. The idea of putting recycled scrap metal to use by making something unique and beautiful was just the start of all the other projects he has created.
The zinc application on the Dragon was more than successful at revitalizing the sculpture. The zinc coating illuminated the 7-foot sculpture and enhanced the boldness of the Dragon scales, teeth, and 13-foot wing span. Trevor would like to use this Dragon as an advertising piece for Imagine Metal Art. Having this sculpture on display in front of his shop will surely increase street traffic.
The artist, McIntyre said "This being my first sculptue, I am extremely proud of it and would like for it to be on display. Due to the natural elements, I was looking for a method to preserve and protect the life span of my Dragon sculpture. Galvanizing was the best solution!"
