Inspired by the American Galvanizers Associations (AGA) rustsucks.com advertising campaign, the staff at Bristol Galvanizing in Bristol, Virginia decided to develop T-Rex, as a part of a new marketing concept of their own. The company brainstormed marketing slogans, and decided to develop a concept around the fact hot-dip galvanizing was the longest lasting coating on the market. Working with the long-lasting concept, as well as considering the long history of using galvanizing to protect steel, the concept of using a dinosaur emerged. Bristol Galvanizing then developed the slogan Dont let your steel become extinct to go along with the T-Rex.
Dont let your steel become extinct
Customers donated steel such as pipe, rod, bolts, nuts, etc. to help create the dinosaur. Zophia Kneiss Farrier, of Burning Art, listened to their ideas and welded them into reality creating the T-Rex. Today the T-Rex sits outside the galvanizing plant for all to see, and has become quite a landmark with people stopping by to take pictures. Additionally, the new slogan and images of the T-Rex have been incorporated in all of the companys marketing materials. Creating the T-Rex and marketing slogan based on the benefits of galvanized steel will provide Bristol Galvanizing a creative and unique marketing centerpiece for years to come.
