When completed, ZOOMbabwe was the worlds largest enclosed water slide, located at Holiday World and Splashin Safari theme park in Indiana. With full-enclosure, the ZOOMbabwe thrills families with 10 story drops, banked curves, and finally a huge splash back into sunlight.
Nearly 900 feet long, this attraction provides 50 seconds of twists and turns from launch to splashdown for as many as 1,000 guests an hour. As safety was critical for this new park attraction, hot-dip galvanizing was specified as the corrosion protection method for all steel components. Approximately 36 tons of steel columns, yoke plates, handrails, tube assemblies and brackets were hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection. These galvanized support structures provided the park owner peace of mind, as the maintenance-free longevity means the new slide can stay open all season and for many seasons to come generating revenues.
