CloseThis pedestrian crossing spans the Hudson River in New Yorks state capital. The beautifully designed bridge needed to withstand the many visitors making use of it daily, as well as the challenging winters of upstate New York. The bridge reunited the city with the mighty Hudson after the previous construction of the I-787 beltway had previously cut the public off from accessing the river.
The combination of hot-dip galvanized steel and powder coating provided a long-term solution with aesthetic appeal, and the duplex system was less expensive initially than a three-coat paint system. By employing the tough corrosion protection of hot-dip galvanizing as the base coat for the powder, the residents of Albany will have a crossing to the river for decades of walkers, joggers, bikers, skateboarders, and all to enjoy for decades.
