CloseSpanning 3,000 feet, the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge is a source of pride for the residents of Omaha, Nebraska. This landmark bridge spans across the Missouri River and is named after former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerry who secured $18 million of federal funding for the project. As this only covered a portion of the projects expense, it was crucial to protect the cable caps with the best coating obtainable. The cable cap assemblies that sit atop the masts of the bridge are the main support structure for the entire bridge.
These cable caps were hot-dip galvanized (HDG) not only to ensure the safety of passengers but also to provide the 1,179 feet high caps maintenance-free corrosion protection. Tourists and locals will be walking across this bridge, admiring and examining it closely. With the protection of HDG, the Bob Kerry Bridge will be featured in as a capstone for the community for decades.
