The city of Hartington, Nebraska, wanted to make improvements to its combination baseball and football field. The small town of 1500 people has been making improvements to attract small businesses to their tight knit community.
In conjunction with efforts to build a football-only field, the city decided to repurpose the current multi-purpose field into a baseball-only facility. A local business owner decided to build new portable dugouts, and to galvanize the dugout frames to protect the exposed steel against corrosion. The business owner liked the durability of HDG, and wanted the dugouts to be portable. Knowing city planners did not want to touch up paint yearly, the HDG coating made perfect sense. Using the HDG coating not only improves the durability aspect, it provides a strong barrier against rust and will keep the dugout safe for long-lasting usage for many generations to come.
