The town of Wise, Virginia is nestled in the high ridges of the Appalachian Mountains where the environment can provide extremes of heat, cold, rain and snow. The new outdoor Community Center and Open Market was built to be the focal point of the town. Coating durability was necessary to preserve the beauty of the structure.
Coating durability was necessary to preserve the beauty of the structure.
Color was necessary to blend with the mountain scenery. Powder coated hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) was the perfect choice. The architect was pleased with the easy of specifying, the corrosion protection both inside and outside of the tubular structure, and the quality of the finish. The town was surprised to find the initial cost was competitive and the life-cycle cost was much better. Minimal maintenance is anticipated for years to come. In its preservation efforts, the town appreciated the sustainable attributes of HDG.
