The USS Oklahoma Flag Pole, located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was erected in honor of those who served on the USS Oklahoma during WWII and lost their lives when the battleship sunk at Pearl Harbor.
Installed at the Battleship Memorial, the flag pole is in a highly visible area, which dictated a need for aesthetic appeal as well as corrosion protection. The park is located on the coast of Hawaii and is exposed year-round to an environment conducive to deterioration. To prevent corrosion from forming, the customer chose to use hot-dip galvanizing as a protective layer to provide a durable product. The entire flag pole, including the hand hole cover plate, was galvanized. In total 1,000 pounds of steel received a coating that will provide exactly what the memorial and flagpole needs - years of maintenance-free life that will ensure years of viewing pleasure and consistent corrosion protection for the flagpole.
