The ornate and whimsical design of the railings was water jet fabricated for the home owner, an author of children's books. The location is on the North Shore of Massachusetts and is constantly exposed to the salt air.
Although the fabricator applied the coatings in their own shop, their previous experience with galvanizing led them to insist that the steel be hot-dip galvanized to protect it from the aggressive environment.
