CloseConstructed in 1914, Ocean City's city hall needed some mending. Replacement framing for entablature and parapet construction includes architrave beams, cornice beams, counterweight beams, anchor plates, base and top plates, stub columns, outriggers, channels and angles. Individual components were galvanized after completion of welding and prior to bolt-up and assembly. Restorations were challenging because of the historical detailing of terra cotta and steel construction, and fit-up was difficult, given the irregular nature of the original material configurations. As with any historic preservation project, sensitivity to the existing building appearance was a top priority.
