The historic Freedom Tower in Downtown Miami stands tall as a symbol for the refugees who fled from communist Cuba in the 1960s. Located yards away from the bay, the tower bell and the structure of the cupola were severely corroded and needed to be replaced. In order to preserve the tower for another 100 years, hot-dip galvanizing was chosen to protect these parts from corrosion due to the harsh marine environment. The Tower is 17 stories tall and is used to host major exhibitions and events, especially those for the refugees who fled Cuba. Because of the superior corrosion protection provided by hot-dip galvanizing, the tower will stand tall as a historic place for decades to come.
