The Mountain Gates, featuring a desert mountain design, welcome entrants into a gated community in Scottsdale, Arizona. Although Arizona has an arid climate, the mountain gate was in need of corrosion protection because of the desert night condensation. The community desired a copper desert look rather than the classic galvanized silver finish and in order to accommodate this desire, the gates were powder coated to achieve a virtually flawless look.
This mountain gate will long remain a barrier from harm...
Powder coating after galvanizing creates a valuable duplex system, which is not only beautiful, but also extremely durable. The duplex system provides both cathodic and barrier protection. The zinc provides cathodic protection through decades of exposure until all the zinc is sacrificed. Also, the powder coating on the mountain gates provides extra barrier protection. This mountain gate will long remain a barrier from harm and a welcome to the Scottsdale community.
