The public and anyone entering or leaving Boston sees this landmark bridge, which is close to the waterway near the ships. Traffic tie-ups are common on Memorial Drive, leaving several hundreds of drivers to inspect the scenery so the lovely coloring and corrosion free nature of the railing has high visibility.
To keep the bridge from deteriorating due to corrosion, a duplex system would provide both dependable barrier and cathodic protection, while allowing the city to work with a specific color scheme. The railings in this area are difficult to reach, so it was also critical the corrosion solution be maintenance-free one of galvanized steels best attributes.
There have been a great deal of corrosion related paint failures in Boston, and the city wanted a new coating system that would be the exception. This bridge will stand the test of time and stand as a tribute to both the city and the dependable nature of hot-dip galvanized steel.
