While the overall percentage of the structural steel actually galvanized was very little, the reason it was for this particular customer is very important to the industry. The material that will be subjected to the elements and environment and nearly impossible to be maintained is what they galvanized. The outer area of the upper floors of this unusually shaped buildings design was a cause of concern for future maintenance, and required superior corrosion protection. A seminar on hot-dip galvanizing was asked for by the Architect and owner, to put concerns of size and corrosion to rest.
