The cooling tower enclosures at Walmart are consistently exposed to moist conditions, meaning they need protection from the corrosive effects of exposure to water over time. All 240,000 lbs of beams, bent plates, fasteners, and louvers were galvanized to achieve the goal of corrosion protection.
The louvers used in this structure were developed to withstand an F5 tornado. They will also be exposed to weather year round, as well as moisture related to the cooling processes of the tower. Galvanized steel will keep them standing strong over time.
