Duquesne Club Ice Tongs

It may seem to be a small thing to you, but it isn't to The Duquesne Hunting & Fishing Club. After the fire that destroyed their 103 year old structure the only things that could be recovered were the 85 year old ice tongs and the fireplace screen. They had originally been galvanized and when they were salvaged from the rubble, the club took the tongs and screen as a symbol of their efforts to rebuild.

Special handling had to be employed as the tongs had to be functional and movable and the screen openings had to be clear. Every member and visitor will see the iconic tongs mounted above the mantle piece.

Several companies and individuals donated to the rebuilding of the club and the galvanizer was happy to be a small part of the rebuilding process. These 85 year old tongs are expected to serve the club for another 85 years and represent the rebirth of the historic hunting and fishing club.
