Composting Hose Tractor Rehabilitation

"This composting hose tractor is used in the mushroom growing industry, which has proven to be a highly corrosive environment.  The tractor was originally painted using a high-performance system, but the coating only lasted one year before requiring replacement.  New tractors cost the manufacturer tens of thousands of dollars each, and thus replacing them on an annual basis was cost prohibitive.  Based on the performance of other hot-dip galvanized products in the mushroom composting operation, they decided to try using hot-dip galvanized steel on the tractor parts.
Hot-dip galvanizing was much less expensive initially than stainless steel, the other option considered, and the galvanizer was able to reuse the existing parts.  Rehabilitating the tractors cost only a fraction of total replacement, and with a life expectancy of at least 15 years, the return on the investment was unmatched.  Hot-dip galvanizing the 15 tractors will reduce equipment and maintenance costs providing the tractors composting ability uninterrupted for decades.

All recycled parts had to be cleaned and heavy rust and existing paint removed.

Vent and drain holes were added

This was a move toward high equipment maintenance and replacement costs .
