Another unique design by Artichect Jeff Shelton can be proudly seen atop the hills in Santa Barbara. The Wienpahl Residence re-model included the use of hot-dip galvanized steel plate around the perimeter of the house, thus creating the protection and durability needed along the Southern California coast, while also offering a contrast with Cor-Ten steel used elsewhere. Additionally, city ordinances required the steel be used as a fire protection, so the design team incorporated HDG in leiu of paint to counter the proximity to the coastal sea air.
