Blue Bayou Water Park has been the premier recreational water park in the state of Louisiana for over fifteen years. When originally built, hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) was specified as the coating for all structural steel components on the slide. As a result, the structural integrity of the carbon steel has remained intact allowing ownership to deploy funds to other needs of the park.
The cost effectiveness and lengthy life cycle of hot-dip galvanizing has helped the park in funding its latest attraction, the Aqua Loop Waterslide. Ownership approved the use of a galvanized coating for several reasons. HDG has proven to outlast any available paint application, which assures the initial payment of the galvanizing application will be exchanged for decades of structural sustainability. Additionally, with the minimal cost of galvanizing, funds can be allotted to other areas of need.
Furthermore, the utilization of a duplex coating system will allow the park to meet aesthetic demands. It will also increase the expected time to first maintenance significantly. Finally, park ownership estimates that the slide will be used by over 36,000 customers annually. Park administration can rest easy knowing that the galvanized support components will last many years, providing the safest and most enjoyable experience for their customers
