This project is a bus-operations layover facility. It provides off-street staging for twelve buses, a building for drivers, and new street extensions. The duplex- coated columns, lighting, and fencing architecturally tie the bus facility in to the adjacent Amtrak and Greyhound Stations. Combined, these facilities make up the hub of Portland's transportation center. The galvanized material was used as both a corrosion resistant coating and as an architectural highlight. Each column was entirely galvanized and than painted. The perforated plates were not painted to show the accent of colors and textures between the painted, hot-dip galvanized steel and the galvanized steel.
