The Minnesota Pass Overhead Sign Trusses included more than 21 overhead sign structures along a span of 30 miles of heavy freeway traffic, and called for a uniform appearance and quick turn-around time. The project also required a material that would withstand the corrosive road salts and chemicals used to melt the ice and snow during harsh Minnesota winters. Hot-dip galvanized steel provided not only the most cost-effective, but also the most durable and sustainable material to use for the abrasive environment of the freeway.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is a solid believer in the benefits of HDG steel, which provides a uniform coating thickness that meets ASTM A123 and MN DOT specifications. In an environmentally conscious state, the recyclable nature of HDG steel made it the clear choice for these highly visible signs.
