Toronto, Canada hosted the Summer Pan Am Games starting July 10th. Over 1,000,000 tickets were sold to Games venues across the Greater Toronto Area. The temporary installation of 150 bike racks were added strategically throughout the city park locations to accommodate the additional bike traffic.
Each bike rack was constructed on a 10' steel frame designed to accommodate a minimum of 8 bikes. All 150 bike racks were galvanized. Given the intended heavy traffic and long-time use, Hot-Dip Galvanizing was specified by the customer for the galvanizing corrosion, durability and longevity.
Following the completion of the games, 100 of the bike racks were redistributed from the parks to 20 schools within the Toronto District School Board. The 100 bike racks replaced old style bike racks, added additional bike rack capacity and added new capacity to school locations where needed.
