If you havent heard about fabric buildings yet, you will. This "Genesis 6 Series" building composed of a fabric skin over a galvanized steel truss structure was purchased by The Michigan Sugar Company. Michigan Sugar Company is the third largest beet sugar processor in the United States, producing an annual average of more than 1 billion pounds of sugar.
The building consists of approximately 175 tons of steel.
This monster of a building measures 190 wide and 594 long, offering 112,860 square feet of covered outdoor storage space for year round storage. The building consists of approximately 175 tons of steel. All the trusses and trusses components have been hot-dip galvanized.
There are many significant advantages to this type of construction. For example, the fabric (15 year warranty) roof gives plenty of abundant light minimizing electrical lighting expenses. Traditional steel buildings have many support beams to support the roof. The low weight of a fabric roof and unique engineering design utilizing the strength of the galvanized trusses, minimizes the need for support beams. Hot-dip galvanized steel eliminates the contamination of the product from flaking paint and eliminates maintenance painting for decades. These benefits, speed of construction and overall material reductions make this building the best and most sustainable choice for this type of storage. Reduced support structures also leave more room for forklift traffic. Zinc coated steel is the cornerstone of design providing strength, low maintenance and a consistent aesthetic appearance.
Too truly appreciate the massiveness of this structure, invest in a drone and drive to Bay City, Michigan. Be sure to visit in the summer, the building doesn't mind the harsh winters.
