The Mississippi River Bridge Traveler is the newest innovation in high structure inspection and repair. Whether used on a bridge, pipe support rack, or utility structure, the Traveler provides a safe and efficient platform for inspection and repair. Suspended under a Mississippi River Interstate Bridge and hundreds of feet above the River, corrosion is a monumental safety concern. Hot-dip galvanizing provides peace of mind for inspectors and repairmen.
The unit is designed to move vertically and horizontally so each part of the structure can be easily accessed.
This first of its kind platform spans 1500 feet between two column piers. It is permanently affixed to the structure and includes expandable arms. The arms retract when not in use but extend to the entire width of the structure to provide a walkway for safe accessibility. The unit is designed to move vertically and horizontally so each part of the structure can be easily accessed.
This river bridge application offers unique corrosion concerns. It is suspended over the water and will be subjected to run off of road salts during the cold St. Louis winters. Galvanizing was chosen for its long term corrosion protection. No other corrosion system will provide the level of corrosion protection that is offered by hot-dip galvanizing. Maintenance of the Traveler will be minimal while safety and convenience will be maximized.
