Located in the Hudson Yards neighborhood, on the west side of Tenth Avenue, between 34th and 35th Streets, is the Bjarke Ingels designed, 65-story, 66 Hudson Boulevard, also known as "The Spiral", and extending Manhattan’s High Line to the skyline. The building features a cascading series of landscaped terraces and hanging gardens as its signature element.
"Designed for the people that occupy it, The Spiral ensures that every floor of the tower opens up to the outdoors creating hanging gardens and cascading atria that connect the open floor plates from the ground floor to the summit into a single uninterrupted work space." -BIG Founding Partner Bjarke Ingels
Building floors feature unobstructed views, soaring ceiling heights, virtually column free floor plates, floor-to-ceiling windows and seamless indoor/outdoor space with terraces on every tower floor. The office building stands 1,005 feet tall and contain 2.85 million square feet incorporating 65 stories and 27,000 square feet of first-class retail space. Tenets include: Pfizer, HSBC, Turner Construction and New York Presbyterian Hospital.
The galvanizer played an integral role in helping to manage the tracking and storage of each piece of hot-dip galvanized steel on the project. Coordination in terms of sequencing and delivery schedule were keys to the success of the project. Often times, steel was galvanized and delivered to the job site just in time. Delaying or holding up a load or a crane pick was not an option on this project, as each load of steel was delivered one at a time, often in the dark of night into midtown Manhattan.
