Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is home to the highest zip line in the world, located at an elevation of 1,100 feet above the bottom of the canyon floor in Canon City, Colorado. This is the newest attraction at the Park, which flies two riders 700 feet across the canyon above the Arkansas River at a blazing 35 mph.
The Soaring Eagle Zip Lines location is perched on a 1,000-foot granite canyon wall, which makes it difficult, dangerous, and expensive to maintain a painted surface.
It is located in the 360 acre theme park along with 21 other rides, shows, and attractions. The park is a popular natural attraction in Colorado, boasting of bringing together the scenic beauty of the Grand Canyon and the human achievement of the Golden Gate Bridge. The superior corrosion protection and extended service life due to the maintenance free coating of hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) provided a key factor in determining which corrosion protection system would be used. The barrier and cathodic protection properties of HDG will keep the zip line aesthetically pleasing for many decades, while leaving a smaller environmental footprint helping to preserve the Parks natural beauty.
