Model T Rims

Steve Jelf of Parkerfield, Kansas, was in the process of restoring an antique Model T car. As after-market parts for such an older model car were not readily available to find or purchase, Steve had to fabricate the rims for the wheels himself.

After considering plating, painting and brass, he decided the optimal choice of product for the rims was galvanized steel. Steve chose hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) for the coating of the steel rims because of the durability, cost, maintenance and life-cycle. The initial cost of galvanized steel was less expensive than the other product choices.

And, not only is the cost of maintenance of galvanized steel far less, but the time and labor for the service life is less, too. Finally, with the durability and long life-cycle of galvanized steel, Steve had a maintenance-free product with corrosion protection that would last for years to come.
