Owasco Pier Outlet Project

The Owasco Pier Outlet is a very popular boating, fishing and picnic spot on scenic Cayunga Lake. A smooth, pristine coating was extremely important. A duplex coating of hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating was specified to fulfill this need.

Not only did the combination of these two coatings give the 65 tons (69 tonnes) of hand railing a pleasing appearance, it also made the steel extremely durable, withstanding all that nature throws at it, as well as enduring daily contact with people. Owasco Pier Outlet is where many festivals and special events are held. Many local dignitaries, and state and local politicians attend these events. Because of the extensive exposure to the environment and human contact, special handling of the handrail was an additional requirement. Special transportation of the handrail to the pier was scheduled so that no nicks or marks were created on the powder coating.
