Maiden Lane Pavilion is located on Pier 15 on the East River Waterfront in New York City, New York where the building is constanly sprayed by salt water from the East River. The Department of Parks and Recreation wanted the soffit and side panels to be free of rust and maintenance for many years to come. In addition, the Architect wanted an industrial look to blend in with the FDR overpass directly above the pavilion. The main selling point for hot-dip galvanizing was the cost savings in material between stainless steel panels and hot-dip galvanized panels.
