Paul Brown Stadium
Cincinnati, OH United States | 2000
The goal of this design is to allow a piece of Kansas City tradition to blend in with the stadium to give the effect of the Chief Nation Spirit. The first thing that spectators notice is its sleek design and Chief logo on the front that blends in with the section, while the logo is perfectly positioned over the walkway heading in to the tunnels underneath.
With the cool sleek design and color options, the platform is a duplex coating that not only is protected by galvanized steel but a paint system too. With this duplex coating in place it will ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy the platform. The hot-dip galvanized coating coupled with the paint system can guarantee fans can rely on the drum platform and the Kansas City Chiefs offense scoring touchdowns for generations to come.
Thanks to the duplex system, the Kansas City Chiefs drum platform will be ready to "Lead the Charge" for many years to come!
Prior to Pre-Season there was a call to one of Kansas City’s local fabricators to bring a design that could not only bring a since of unity among fans but to also create an area that fans will want to visit while in the stadium. For years the drum has been used on the field for pre-game rituals but ownership felt the need to make this change to enhance the customer experience.
The reason this project went with hot-dip galvanizing was to guarantee longevity on this platform for future seasons and with the outdoor elements it made since to secure the long life out of the design. Due to the unique application of old school construction with a modern twist, hot-dip galvanizing was chosen to protect the iconic symbol for the stadium. The paint over the top was an obvious need as it would blend in with the stadium seating and surrounding areas. Since its inception in pre-season 2019 the fans have really taken to the new platform area as it fulfilled its purpose of enhancing the fan experience at Kansas City home games.
The contractor in charge, coating and assembly of the structure worked hand in hand with the galvanizer to ensure the structural pieces that make up the platform followed specifications in order to ensure the highest quality product for the Kansas City Chiefs team and it's fans. The contractor in charge worked with the galvanizer to ensure best practices were followed in the design process.
