"The Pig Adventure" at Fair Oaks Farms is a unique agricultural experiment. It combines education, awareness, entertainment and a massive hog production operation at the same location. Only hot-dip galvanizing could provide sustainable, long lasting corrosion protection in such a harsh environment while insuring a safe, toxin-free living environment.
2600 sows are housed in three buildings all open to the public. Breeding-gestation, farrowing and nursing areas are viewed by the public from a 25,000 square foot observation deck above the 100,000 square foot indoor production area. Over 78,000 feeder pigs are produced each year and sold to feed lots throughout the area.
From floor to ceiling, structure, pens, gates, feeders and water tanks were all galvanized. This insures the pigs would not accidentally ingest and contaminates from painted items.
