The Detroit Athletic Club, one of the oldest structures in downtown Detroit originally built in 1915 was in need of updating. It was decided more room, event space, and a aerial view of sporting events in Detroit was what they had been needing and wanting. The entire structure went up through the roof to support the roof and space. The new ground floor entrances had also been changed to hot- dip galvanizing after the Architect, The Smith Group, (Detroit) experienced success and realized the sustainability pointed out to them by the local Galvanizer and Melissa Lindsley, of the American Galvanizers Association.
