The Bryne Dairy/Ultra Dairy Factory was built for production of extended shelf life of dairy products (90 days). The project required sanitary conditions, so peeling paint was not an option, and stainless steel was too costly.
Hot-dip galvanizing provided a cost effective solution. Hot-dip galvanizing is able to withstand daily washing and meet the FDAï¾s food processing standards. The finish had to be smooth to avoid any cavities for bacteria to grow. Hot-dip galvanizing was initially cheaper and more durable than a high-end three part paint system and with little to no maintenance costs, it was the obvious choice.
