CloseThe railing around the men's' and women's' starting platforms is galvanized, as are the stairs and handrail leading to the starts. The safety rails that run along the bob/luge track are also galvanized. The refrigeration plant and large cooling fans are located on the galvanized grating platform. At the end of the run, a galvanized pole supports the finish sign. Created for the 2002 Winter Olympics, this bob/luge track is one of only 12 competition-certified refrigerated tracks in the world. Due to the severe weather conditions in the mountainous terrain of Utah, hot-dip galvanizing was the only corrosion prevention system to withstand the elements. The simplicity of the galvanized process made galvanizing these parts efficient and easy.
