The artist/owner's keen eye recognized the aesthetic quality that hot-dip galvanizing delivered to these gates, located at his home on Tiki Island in the Gulf of Mexico. Both pieces capture special moments of past fishing adventures where the silver marlin and waters of the gulf are in harmony, as seen from the back of the artist's boat.
The constant exposure to humidity and aggressive sea salts made other corrosion prevention systems impractical and galvanizing the logical choice to preserve the gates for generations. Specific elements of the gates' including their lightweight nature, intricate detail, and moving parts (hinges, brackets, wall attachments) presented unique challenges met by the galvanizer to deliver this masterpiece of art, functionality, and durability.
