New Jersey High Speed Rail Improvement program is in full swing. The first leg of these Rail improvements are between New Brunswick and Trenton, New Jersey. All 350 tons of the structural steel has been specified and completed with hot-dip galvanizing. The exposure for the industry and the transportation market segments will be immense.
This beginning segment has been deemed the prototype for the entire Northeast corridor from Washington DC to Boston, Massachusetts for high speed rail. So far a very successful venture with steel arriving ahead of schedule. The main reason the fabricator has given to Amtrak was the benefits he was receiving by using hot dip galvanizing instead of the originally planned 3 part exotic paint systems. While Amtrak was not initially convinced of using galvanizing, they were shown examples of weathering (A588) and galvanized product in other areas of the Country. The unamious decision they came back with was Hot-Dip Galvanizing.
