This Minor League baseball stadium, the Lugnuts, part of the Toronto Blue Jays, of Major League Baseball needed to renovate their Baseball stadium. The entire makeover was specified by Jones, Pitrie, and Rafinski to be hot dip galvanized. The degree of difficulty to be galvanized for some of these very challenging sections of steel fabrication was overcome, once a design seminar was given and understood by the Architect and Steel Fabricator. The project began during a very harsh Michigan winter in 2014, with the goal of being finished by first Pitch April 2015. The Architect reported that with the weather conditions that they faced paint would not have been an option. Galvanizing was faster, more economical, and the galvanizer went above any expectations to help with the design to overcome their challenges. The major push for galvanizing was when it was pointed out the original structure, built in 1996, after less the 20 years and repeated maintenance issues with the corrosion of the steel, they decided Hot-Dip Galvanizing was the only way to go.
