The American Acryl plant is part of a large complex of industrial and chemical plants in the Baytown, Texas area. Acrylic acid is one of the harshest environments, but a hot-dip galvanized coating was still the coating of choice.
American Acryl makes products we use everyday, such as absorbing agents for baby diapers, laundry detergent and dishwasher soap. By reducing the maintenance cost, the above products will be economically available to the end user. Ato Fina has used hot-dip galvanizing for its projects whenever it encounters a corrosive environment; the American Acryl plant is in one of the most corrosive and aggressive atmospheres known. Even though hot-dip galvanizing was competitive with other preventative coatings on an initial basis, it had a much lower long-term cost. The fabricator and galvanizer worked closely together to meet delivery times since the plant was built in sequence according to topographical elevations.
