This state of the art drag racing facility features the only all-concrete four lane drag strip in the United States. TThe ZMax Dragway showcases the performance of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the entire project is the 700 tons of recycled grandstands. The stands were HDG in 1964 and reconstructed in 2008, and 44 years later, these HDG stands remain in outstanding condition.
ZMax Dragways 34,000-foot start line tower stairs, columns, beams, stringers, treads, and handrails were galvanized.
With this evidence of the HDG performance, the ZMax Dragways 34,000 foot start line tower stairs, columns, beams, stringers, treads, and handrails were galvanized. Galvanized steel has been used extensively by NASCAR since 1960 because it provides superior corrosion protection and a uniform appearance throughout North Americas racing facilities. This uniform look is one that has proven to keep out corrosion without the hassle of maintenance. Spectators can only hope competitors on the track perform as well as the ZMax Dragways galvanized steel.
