The Designer needed the protection and insured longevity hot-dip galvanizing provides. Especially in the case of a public art installation, situated in a public park next to Lake Ontario, a minimal amount of maintenance required was preferred.
An important outcome of the galvanizing process in this case was the effect of molten zinc solidifying the panels that were put together using traditional forging techniques. To give rigidity to the overall structure this way was a bonus.
