Step up to the Wonderful Water Machine and you find yourself in control of water jets that manipulate balls up eight feet and into a vortex ball return all while teaching others about gravity. The machine is an interactive display in the Childrens Museum in Madison, Wisconsin. The interactive exhibit is exposed to water up to 14 hours a day, and thus needed a durable, cost effective corrosion protection system.
Originally, the museum planned to build the machine out of stainless steel; however, the contractor soon learned that would be cost prohibitive. After further research, the decision was made to hot-dip galvanize the floor grating, flanges, rails, and supports totaling 1000 pounds. The galvanizer took great care during processing to ensure all areas were smooth and safe as children would be interacting with the material. The durable, sustainable, and appealing zinc coating ensures the Wonderful Water Machine remains fascinating to watch and play with for decades.
