Church Street South Extension Bridge

This bridge superstructure consists of an 89 ft. (27 m) long I-span, pony truss, supported on stone-faced concrete substructures. The entire superstructure was galvanized, and consisted of the trusses, floor beams, stringers and SIP forms for the concrete deck.
This is the first hot-dip galvanizing truss bridge in Somerset County. Due to the success of this project, it will not be the last. Many more galvanized truss bridges will be used to replace existing, deteriorating trusses. The county has a policy of designing bridges so that they fit harmoniously into their surrounding sites. At the location where the former truss once stood, the local community was very concerned about the new bridge fitting into their environment, and they were not afraid to voice these concerns.
The local community gave all parties involved with the project great praise for following through on their promises and making the brand new bridge look like it had been there for decades.
