All parts of the electrification system of the Secaucus Transfer were hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection, including eight miles of electrification towers, pipe rail ladders and cages, signal bridges, cross over trusses, and cantilevers. New Jersey Transit specified galvanizing for the long term corrosion protection from exposure in a corrosive atmosphere, thus avoiding costly maintenance and delays from repairs to corroded steel along the system.
